
Charles Donald

Charles Donald is a Senior Advisor at PJT Partners.
Mr. Donald has almost four decades of experience spanning investment banking and UK public sector finance, including senior leadership roles within UK Government Investments and international policy work for the OECD.
Mr. Donald spent his entire early career in investment banking. He worked in Financing from 1987 to 1992 and then in Equity Research from 1992 to 2006, before moving into UK Corporate Advisory, where he held a number of senior management positions until 2018.
In May 2018, he joined UK Government Investments as Head of the Financial Institutions Group, and he went on to serve as Chief Executive Officer of UK Government Investments from March 2020 until January 2026. From 2021 to 2024, he served as Chair of the Working Party on State Ownership and Privatisation Practices for the OECD in Paris. In March 2026, Mr. Donald was appointed to the Department for Transport Operator (DFTO) Board as a Non-Executive Director. In June 2026, he was awarded a CBE for services to Public Finance in The King’s Birthday Honours.
Mr. Donald’s former Board roles include Non-Executive Director of the UK Infrastructure Bank (now the National Wealth Fund), Trustee of Help for Heroes (the Armed Forces charity), and Chair of the Lambrook School Trust.
