Senior Advisor
Mark Gerstein is a Senior Advisor at PJT Partners.
Mr. Gerstein retired as a Partner at Latham & Watkins in 2022 after serving as a corporate partner and Global Co-Chair of Latham & Watkins’ Merger and Acquisitions practice where he advised boards of directors and management on complex corporate transactions and corporate governance, acting on over $500 billion of M&A and other lifecycle corporate matters. In his nearly 40 years of practice, he advised on some of the largest and most complex M&A transactions both domestically and cross-borders and counselled countless boards on takeover defense and activism planning, as well as spin-offs and corporate governance matters, including crises management.
He has worked in a broad variety of sectors, including Industrials, Technology, Life Sciences, REITs and Healthcare. He has also advised numerous family controlled public companies and their owners on M&A, governance and defense matters.
Beyond his professional work, Mr. Gerstein serves on the Executive Committee of Youth Guidance’s Board, co-chairs the University of Michigan’s Dean’s Advisory Council (LSA), is a Trustee of the Ravinia Festival, and is an adjunct professor at Northwestern University Pritzker Law School.
Mr. Gerstein received his AB from the University of Michigan and JD from The Law School at the University of Chicago.
